Smith is one of the best all around figs available. This rare, Louisiana heirloom fig is delicious, rich, and productive, and also very disease and insect resistant. It has qualities that make it superior for growing in the South, such as rot resistance in wet weather, and a “closed eye” which means it doesn’t get buggy or rot as easily. An excellent fig for backyard and marketing! Very sweet flavor and makes loads of fruit! If you live in the Deep South, this will be one of your favorites! Greenish-yellow skin with rich, deep red flavorful sweet flesh inside. Originally a Becknel Nursery introduction. Rare.
